The International Conference of Teacher Research is a small conference that occurs annually before or after AERA and is attended by educators interested in practitioner research.
Mission Statement of ICTR: To improve the learning
opportunities of all children through the growth of individual teachers
conducting studies in their classrooms.
Purpose: To activate and extend the
voices of teacher researchers and their students through the support of
professional organizations, publishers, school systems, teacher networks,
unions, universities, and other organizations.
Goals:
1. To provide a forum for practitioner researchers to share the data and/or findings of their research and their students’ learning with other professionals;
2. To offer an occasion for practitioner researchers to engage in dialogue about education issues and demonstrate professional growth and development;
3. To determine appropriate and effective ways for teacher researchers, teacher educators, and other interested parties to collaborate in validating teacher research as authentic research;
4. To bring together various groups interested in supporting teacher research and its publication in various forms; and
5. To explore currently available opportunities for practitioner researchers to take on leadership roles within the education and educational research community.
The
2008 International Conference on Teacher Research begins on Friday, March 28 at
4:30 pm to 7:30 pm and continues on Saturday, March 29 from 8:30 to 5pm.
Conference registration includes keynote addresses, general sessions, panel
discussion, Friday evening reception, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and tea/
coffee break.
